Privacy Policy for Memdoku

Draft. This policy is not finished: the highlighted parts are still to be filled in.

Effective Date: October 6, 2025

Introduction

Welcome to Memdoku! This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application ("App"). Please read this privacy policy carefully. If you do not agree with the terms of this privacy policy, please do not access the application.

Information We Collect

1. Automatically Collected Information

When you use our App, we may automatically collect certain information about your device, including:

This information is collected through Firebase Crashlytics and Firebase Analytics services provided by Google LLC.

Firebase collection is opt-in. Both Analytics and Crash Reporting are switched off until you answer the consent prompt shown on first launch, and you can change either choice at any time — see Your Rights and Choices below.

2. Content Delivery Network

Some game artwork, page reveal videos and background music are downloaded to your device rather than being included in the app download. The App obtains them from our content delivery network at cdn.memdoku.com using ordinary HTTPS requests:

These requests are how the App obtains what it displays, so they are not covered by the Firebase consent choice and are made independently of it — normally before you have answered the consent prompt. They are made only while your device reports a network connection.

Our content delivery provider receives, and may record in its server logs:

The App sends no account, name, email address, advertising identifier or game data in these requests. Note one indirect disclosure: the files requested are the artwork for the part of the adventure you are playing, so the file names indicate approximately how far you have progressed.

The App also stores the version tag (HTTP ETag) our provider returns for the catalogue file, in private app storage, and sends it back on later requests so an unchanged file is not downloaded again. That tag is chosen by the server and is the same for every device receiving the same file — it is not an identifier we create for you. It is destroyed when you clear the App's data or uninstall the App, and it is never included in cloud backup or device-to-device transfer.

3. Information You Provide

Currently, our App does NOT collect:

4. Game Progress Data

We store your game progress locally on your device, including:

This data is stored on your device and is not uploaded to us or to any third party. The App has no account system and no cloud save. Android's own device-to-device transfer, which you may use when setting up a new phone, can carry this data to that phone; nothing else moves it off your device. The one indirect exception is described in Content Delivery Network above: which artwork your device requests reflects roughly how far you have progressed.

How We Use Your Information

We use automatically collected information for the following purposes:

  1. App Functionality: To provide and maintain our App's core features
  2. Crash Reporting: To identify and fix bugs and crashes (via Firebase Crashlytics)
  3. Analytics: To understand how users interact with our App and improve user experience (via Firebase Analytics)
  4. Performance Monitoring: To optimize app performance and loading times
  5. Content Delivery: To download game artwork, videos and music to your device

Data Sharing and Disclosure

Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services that may collect information:

Firebase (Google LLC)

Content Delivery Network (Cloudflare, Inc.)

We do NOT:

Advertising. The App does not currently display advertisements and contains no advertising SDK. We intend to introduce advertising and in-app purchases in a future version. When we do, we will update this Privacy Policy before that version is released, and in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom we will ask for your choices through a consent management platform. The App is intended for players aged 13 and over and is not directed to children.

Legal Requirements

We may disclose your information if required by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities (e.g., court orders, subpoenas).

Data Retention

Your Rights and Choices

Your Consent Choices

On first launch the App asks whether to enable Analytics and Crash Reporting. Both are off until you agree, and you can change either independently at any time:

  1. Open Memdoku
  2. Go to Settings (gear icon in main menu)
  3. Toggle "Analytics" and "Crash Reports" on or off

What these toggles do not cover. They control Firebase only. They do not stop the App contacting our content delivery network, because that is how the App obtains the content it displays. The App does not contact our content delivery network while your device reports no connection, and it remains playable using the artwork included in the app download.

Data Deletion

To delete your data:

Switching Analytics off also clears the Analytics data and identifier held on your device; data already sent stays with Google until its retention period ends or you ask us to delete it.

Device Permissions

The App's own manifest declares two permissions:

The Google Play services libraries used by Firebase Analytics add the following to the installed app. The App does not use them itself; they are listed because they appear on the app's permission list:

None of these are runtime permissions; Android does not prompt you for any of them.

We do NOT request:

Children's Privacy

The App is intended for players aged 13 and over and is not directed to children. We do NOT knowingly collect information from children under 13 years of age. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at [YOUR_EMAIL@example.com], and we will delete such information.

International Data Transfers

Your information, including crash reports and analytics, may be transferred to and maintained on servers located outside of your country. By using our App, you consent to this transfer.

Firebase services are provided by Google LLC (United States). Our content delivery network is provided by Cloudflare, Inc. (United States). Transfers of personal data out of the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom rely on the safeguards those providers publish — Standard Contractual Clauses and, where applicable, the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. Each provider's current position is set out in its own privacy policy, linked in Third-Party Services above.

Security

We implement the following measures to protect your information:

However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be effective immediately upon posting the updated Privacy Policy in the App and on our website.

We will notify you of significant changes by:
